2013 Louisiana Senate Bill 220: “Louisiana Has Faith In Families” Act
May 31, 2013
Louisiana Senate Bill 220 provides for the Louisiana Has Faith in Families Act. The bill allows newly adopted children to stay in their current school until the end of the school year, when they will be given the opportunity to enroll in a school in their new home district for the following year. The state will also subsidize the adoption of children with special needs, and streamline the adoption process by shortening wait times and accelerating the judicial process for parents who were previously approved for foster care.
