Tri-Agency Letter To State Medicaid Directors On Trauma Informed Treatment

The letter from the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provides guidance to states, child welfare professionals, and provider organizations serving children and families about integrating trauma-focused care in all child serving settings. Multiple federal departments within HHS are partnering to address complex, interpersonal trauma, and to improve social-emotional health among children known to child welfare systems. The guidance references recent research findings about the long-term impact of childhood trauma to the individual and the health care system.
