Missouri Claimed Unallowable Medicaid Payments for Individuals With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Intermediate Care Facilities

During state fiscal year 2011, the Missouri Department of Department of Social Services (DSS) claimed unallowable Medicaid payments of $10 million for care provided to residents of state-operated intermediate care facilities for people with developmental disabilities (ICF/DD). The state's claims were reviewed by the federal Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to determine if Missouri's ICF/DD rates were reasonable.
