On July 26, 2013, the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) launched an internal review of all child fatalities due to abuse and neglect in 2013 where there was prior involvement by the department. Since May 2013, there have been five deaths of children left with their parents following a child protective services investigation. Casey Family Programs will assist the DCF review by analyzing the findings and advising DCF on changes to child protective services processes to improve child safety.
