State Auditors Office Performance Audit Of Developmental Disabilities In Washington State: Increasing Access & Equality

The audit evaluated the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Program using state and national data, and interviews with clients, family members, and other stakeholders. The goal was to assess the program's performance compared to need, and compared to national benchmarks, and recommend ways to improve the program. A key finding was that about 42% of people who apply and are eligible for developmental disability services are on a waitlist for an average of three years during which they receive no services.
