Michigan Mental Health Courts: 2012 Annual Report and Evaluation Summary

August 1, 2013
In August 2013, the Michigan Supreme Court State Court Administrative Office released its annual report and evaluation of the Michigan Mental Health Court Grant Program (MMHCGP). The MMHCGP targets offenders who have diagnosed severe and persistent Axis I mental illnesses and offers them the opportunity to participate in a court-based treatment program to address their mental illness instead of sentencing the offenders to lengthy jail or prison terms. The report includes data and discussion of participant recidivism rates, education, employment status, mental health, quality of life, and rate of program completion.
