Oklahoma Medical Board Telemedicine Position Statement On Definition Of Face-To-Face Encounter

The Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision released this position statement on the definition of a face-to face-encounter by telemedicine in the state. Its definition ruled that a face-to-face encounter to establish a physician/patient relationship by telemedicine can include real-time telemedicine encounters with audio and video capability. The board states that in order to qualify as a face-to-face encounter, the telemedicine audio and video capability must meet the elements required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
