Texas Department of Family & Protective Services Foster Care System Safety Plan

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services released this safety plan for children in foster care, following an increase in child abuse and neglect-related fatalities in foster care. In fiscal year 2012, two child fatalities in foster care were the result of abuse or neglect, and in fiscal year 2013, there were seven abuse or neglect-related foster care fatalities. The goal of the safety plan is to address preventable deaths of children in foster care.
