Buprenorphine Prescribing Practices and Exposures Reported to a Poison Center — Utah, 2002–2011

The analysis was conducted by the Utah Department of Health using data spanning 2002 through 2011 from the Utah Controlled Substance Database (CSD) on prescriptions for buprenorphine-containing products and exposures to such products reported to the Utah Poison Control Center (PCC) during the same period.The CSD data showed that the number of patients prescribed buprenorphine increased from 22 in 2002 to 9,793 in 2011.
