Medicaid Program; Self-Directed Personal Assistant Services Program State Plan Option (Cash and Counseling)

January 15, 2008 This proposed rule would allow Medicaid beneficiaries to direct their personal assistance services. This rule would permit beneficiaries, through their state programs, to be in charge of hiring, directing, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, and firing their own personal care workers in lieu of an assigned worker employed by an agency. This proposed rule offers guidance to states wanting to administer such a self-directed personal assistant service option through their state Medicare and Medicaid plans.
