January 18, 2008 This document provides information relevant to a decision by the Tennessee Department of Mental Retardation Services (DMRS) to cut reimbursement rates to Home-and Community-Based Services Waiver service providers. Currently there are 7,225 people receiving services through the Home-and Community-Based Services Waiver paid for by the Tennessee Department of Mental Retardation Services (DMRS). An additional 6,329 are on the waiting list. About 48% of those on the list are children. The reimbursement cut came after DMRS implemented a cost review initiative in October 2007 to evaluate how to best meet the needs . . .
