New York Senate Bill 2366
February 19, 2009 The bill introduced by State Senator Charles Fuschillo requires private health insurance to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder. The bill would require private health insurance companies to cover the diagnosis and treatment of ASD for individuals up to the age of 21. The annual maximum benefit is $36,000. Coverage must be provided for treatments prescribed, provided, or ordered by a licensed physician or licensed psychologist who deems the care medically necessary. Covered treatments include: habilitative or rehabilitative care, pharmacy care, psychiatric care, psychological care, therapeutic care, and Applied Behavioral Analysis . . .
