HIMSS Definition of Meaningful Use of Certified EHR Technology for Hospitals
April 27, 2009 On April 27, 2009, HIMSS released definitions of meaningful use of certified electronic health records technology for hospital and physician practices. HIMSS submitted its definitions the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology for consideration as the government develops the formal definitions. Both definitions recommend adopting the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology as the certifying body for electronic health records.
