DOD Health Care: Mental Health & Traumatic Brain Injury Screening Efforts Implemented, but Consistent Pre-Deployment Medical Record Review Policies Needed

May 2008 The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reviewed the Department of Defense (DOD) efforts to implement pre-deployment mental health screening, how post-deployment mental health referrals are tracked, and screening requirements for mild traumatic brain injury. GAO selected the Army, Marine Corps, and Army National Guard for the review.
