Settlement in United States v. State of Nebraska, Beatrice State Developmental Center
July 2, 2008 On June 30, 2008, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Justice reached a settlement regarding the care given to people served at Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC). In return, federal officials will not prosecute and will not fine the state. The settlement will include up to four years of court monitoring. An independent expert, John J.
