North Carolina Report on the Future Role & Capacity of Developmental Centers

September 1, 2007 The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services has proposed the following to meet future demand for services in the state. The developmental centers: Caswell, Murdoch, and Riddle will be downsized, but all three will still provide Intermediate Care Facility/Mental Retardation level of care. Each will serve a state region. Caswell will serve the east; Murdoch will serve the central area; and Riddle will serve the western region.
