Ohio State Senate Passes Bill (SB 164) on Increased Foster Caregiver Training
May 9, 2007 On May 9, 2007, Ohio State Senator Gary Cates introduced a bill to increase prospective family foster caregivers' training hours from 24 to 36. Also, a foster caregiver could fulfill up to 20% of the required 40 hours of continuing training required in the first two years by teaching a training course to other foster caregivers. The bill coordinates the child care system with county boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities (MRDD).
