October 2007 The researchers sought to determine the prevalence of chronic conditions within the Medicaid population and note patterns or clusterings of conditions that could help to develop more appropriate care guidelines, models, performance measurement systems, and reimbursement methodologies. The researchers used data from Medicaid Analytic eXtract for 2002. Enrollees were analyzed separately according to the four major categories of eligibility: non-disabled children, non-disabled adults, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
