Institute for Behavioral Health Informatics: The 4th Annual Conference on the Future of Technology in A Look at New Assistive Technologies and How They are Changing the Field
October 30, 2008 The presentation at the 2008 Institute of Behavioral Health Informatics covered a range of currently available assistive technology: from the concept of universal, accessible design to specific types of devices to aid individuals with vision impairments, hearing impairments, speech impairments, or mobility problems. Presenter Eileen Elias, M.Ed, noted that assistive technology is used to help individuals with disabilities attain a maximum level of independent functioning, productivity, and community interaction as desired.
