Using Information Technology to Enhance Pay-for-Performance Initiatives: The New Paradigm
October 30, 2008 This presentation by William D. Harms, D. Phil., was given at the 2008 Institute for Behavioral Health Informatics. Dr. Harms highlighted the need for clarity in terminology and expected outcomes of social service pay-for-performance measures. He pointed out that various social service fields use similar terms, but define them differently. Funders and grantmakers also have different definitions. To succeed at social service pay-for-performance initiatives, he suggested first defining terms and outcomes, and then reviewing existing information technology to determine if it can be used to demonstrate specific outcomes . . .
