Memorandum of Understanding Among Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health, Yakima Police Department, Yakima Sheriff’s Office, & Yakima County Regarding Pre-Arrest Diversion Program

November 1, 2007 This document establishes a pilot pre-arrest mental health diversion program that allows Yakima Count, Washington police officers to refer an offender to this program instead of to jail if the individual has a known or suspected history of mental illness and has committed a non-violent misdemeanor offense. Participation in this program is voluntary. Program participants will be provided with crisis stabilization, assessment, and treatment by the Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health's Acute Care Services.
