Minnesota Rules Regarding Uniform, Standard Companion Guide for Eligibility Inquiry & Response Electronic Transactions

December 10, 2007 The State of Minnesota published adoption of rules that require health care providers and insurance companies and other payers exchange health care administrative transactions electronically by January 15, 2009. The legislation is the first of its type in the nation. All transactions regarding eligibility inquiry and response must use a single standard format for the electronic exchange. The goal is to improve service and reduce costs for this common administrative activity. The state hopes to see savings by eliminating costs associated with paper transactions as well as avoiding costs to follow up incomplete or non-standard exchange . . .
