Statewide CRIPA Investigation of the Texas State Schools & Centers
December 1, 2008 The U.S. Department of Justice reviewed conditions at 12 Texas State Schools and Centers for individuals with developmental disabilities to determine if care provided at the facilities violated the individuals' civil rights. The review started with the Lubbock facility in 2006; findings were released in December 2006. In May 2008, DOJ started an investigation at Denton. In September 2008, DOJ expanded the Denton investigation statewide.
