March 2002 NCQA Draft 2003 MCO, MBHO and PPO Standards The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) released on March 1 draft changes to its 2003 Accreditation standards for managed care Organizations (MCO), managed Behavioral Healthcare Organizations (MBHO) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO). The proposed changes will streamline the accreditation process by eliminating several labor-intensive documentation requirements and instead focusing more on results. The trend toward results-driven accreditation began in 1999 when HEDIS became part of the MCO Accreditation program.
