February 23, 2007 California Senate Bill 993 This psychologist prescribing bill (SB993) was introduced into the California legislature by State Senator Ron Calderone on behalf of the National Alliance of Professional Psychology Providers (NAPPP). To help the state increase access to comprehensive mental health treatment NAPPP wrote and sponsored the bill which, if enacted, will authorize Medical Psychologists trained in psychopharmacology to prescribe psychotropic medications for patients who are also receiving psychotherapy . . .
