May 1, 2006 Investigation of the Taycheedah Correctional InstitutionOn May 16-18, July 18-21, and October 6-7, 2005, the United States Justice Department (USJD) conducted on-site inspections of Taycheedah Correctional Institution (TCI) with consultants in the fields of sexual misconduct prevention and correctional mental health care. Based on this investigation, the USJD concluded that certain conditions at TCI violated inmates' constitutional rights by failing to provide for inmates' serious mental health needs.
