SB 103: Relating to the Texas Youth Commission

May 25, 2007 SB 103: Relating to the Texas Youth Commission The bill places the Texas Youth Commission (TYC) under the oversight of a single governor-appointed commissioner until September 1, 2009. After that date, the TYC will be led by a seven-member board. Other provisions of the bill require TYC inmates to be separated by age and offense. Inmates over the age of 19 will be transferred to the adult Texas Department of Criminal Justice System. It establishes a family Bill of Rights for visitation and contact with inmates, and also instructs families about how to file grievances . . .
