June 8, 2007 OIG Semiannual Report to Congress: October 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007 On June 8, 2007, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) reported $2.9 billion in expected recoveries between October 1, 2006, and March 31, 2007. The expected recoveries include $1.5 billion in audit receivables and $1.4 billion in investigative receivables for fraud or abuse involving federal health care programs and/or their beneficiaries.
