Maram Fact Sheet This lawsuit was filed by nine people with developmental disabilities (plaintiffs) who reside in large, private, state-funded institutions or who are at risk of being placed in such institutions. These people could live in the community if provided with appropriate services, but the State denied their requests to live in the community. Along with their families, they are suing the State on their own behalf and also on behalf of other people with developmental disabilities (class members) who could live in the community with appropriate supports and services . . .
