December 2005 Audit of Medicaid School-Based Services in Texas This audit was conducted to discover if in State fiscal year 2000, the Texas Health and Human Services commission had improperly claimed federal Medicaid reimbursement for school-based services. The Office of Inspector General estimates that $8.7 million was paid out for unallowable services. 991 claims (46%) of the 2,175 claims examined did not comply with Federal or State laws and regulations. Of the 1,146 errors discovered in the 991 claims, 70% were for services that are not part of the Medicaid program. 30% were for services . . .
