November 2006 Out & Aging: The MetLife Study of Lesbian and Gay Baby Boomers Lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transsexual (LGBT) individuals over the age of 40 have different concerns about aging than heterosexual individuals. In particular, nearly a quarter reported great concern about sexual orientation discrimination as older adults. Less than half expressed strong confidence that health care professionals would treat them with respect. Many LGBT individuals reported making no formal long-term care preparations although many expected to be a caregiver for someone else.
