Rhode Island Agency Confirms New Director

Maria Montanaro was approved by the state Senate to be the director of the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals. The agency has agreed to reform its employment services for the mentally disabled amid allegations it violated their rights for years. Montanaro was previously chief executive officer of Magellan Behavioral Care of Iowa and has also worked at the Thundermist Health Center and Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
