Centene Corporation Acquires Agate Resources

Centene Corporation, a Fortune 500 company based in St. Louis that provides government-sponsored health plans to patients, including Medicaid, Medicare and in some states, health insurance marketplaces set up through the Affordable Care Act, acquired Agate Resources. Agate is the parent company of Trillium Community Health Plan, which was tapped by Oregon in 2012 to be the region's Coordinated Care Organization. Agate provides services to nearly 90,000 Medicaid recipients in Lane County. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of the year. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
