Texas DFPS: A Better Understanding of Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities, FY 2010 Through FY 2013 Analysis
In this report released March 2015, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) presented an analysis of child deaths in Texas between fiscal year 2010 through 2013. Researchers reviewed administrative data for all 4,723 child deaths during the period and public health information about the victims and their families maintained by the Department of State Health Services. The researchers conducted individual case reviews for 686 confirmed child maltreatment fatalities.
