Specific Needs Of Women Diagnosed With Mental Illnesses In U.S. Jails
February 1, 1997 This paper explores the state of psychiatric and health services available in prisons. The author concludes that not all jails may have the capacity to provide all the health needs for women but the jails must provide access to the necessary services to ensure that the rights of women are upheld. The author further suggests that women should receive equal services as their men and the services should be tailored to meet the specific needs for women.
