April 26, 2006 The American Civil Liberties Union-Illinois (ACLU-IL) filed the class action lawsuit on behalf of four individuals with mental illness housed in private intermediate care nursing home facilities classified as institutions of mental disease (IMDs). They seek an injunction that will lead to community-based housing and services. The plaintiffs said failure to provide community housing and services violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.
