May 14, 2009 In November 2008, the Kansas Department of Social & Rehabilitation Services (SRS) granted extraordinary funding of $712,000 to Community Living Opportunities, a non-profit organization that provides support services for adults and children with developmental disabilities. The funding was used to pay staff to care for 43 individuals with severe disabilities. This external review of the award found that SRS Secretary Don Jordan had the authority to award the extra funding, but that there was insufficient documentation to justify the decision.
