Illinois’ Kelly Golden Continues Dedication To Maryville Academy
Circle Connections: Awards & Accreditations Maryville Academy was like extended family as Kelly Golden grew up. In the 1980s, Golden's father, George Rourke, began volunteering with friend John Madden at Maryville, a network of centers and services to guide children who have experienced trauma or chronic difficulties, such as mental illness. Today, Golden, her sister, Nancy Ross, and a group of friends will receive the Guardian Medallion Award for helping to open Maryville's Crisis Nursery, an emergency shelter on Chicago's West Side. It has served more than 4,000 children, newborns to six-year olds, since 2006 . . .
