New York State’s Mental Health Association Of Westchester Awarded FEMA Grant For Post-Sandy Counseling
Circle Connections: Awards & Accreditations The Mental Health Association of Westchester has been chosen to provide crisis counseling assistance to victims of Hurricane Sandy through FEMA's Project Hope funding channeled through the state. A team of 12 will soon begin visiting the 11,000 individuals in Westchester and Rockland counties estimated to have been impacted by the storm. Those at emotional risk after a storm like Sandy are children; older adults; people with prior trauma, disabilities, serious mental illnesses and substance abuse problems and feelings or sense of hopelessness; people with low incomes; first responders and other public safety . . .
