New York Hospital CEO Says Upstate’s Acquisition Of Community Won’t Backfire

Circle Connections: Mergers & Acquisitions The state's decision to close Long Island College Hospital to preserve the tenuous health of SUNY Downtown Medical center is not a harbinger of things to come in Syracuse, says Dr. John McCabe, president and CEO of Upstate Medical University. Downstate bought the Long Island hospital in 2011, the same year Upstate, also a SUNY teaching hospital, acquired Community General Hospital in Syracuse.
