Athenahealth To Buy Healthcare Data Services

Mergers & Acquisitions Medical billing and records software maker Athenahealth Inc. is buying Healthcare Data Services LLC, a health care data analysis company, to expand its services for health care providers. Athenahealth says that the acquisition would help it support customers dealing with new reimbursement systems offered by health insurers and the U.S. government's health care programs. Both companies have been based in Massachusetts, with Athenahealth being located near Boston in Watertown. The financials of the buyout, which should close in October, have yet to be disclosed.
