CMS To Update Hospital Compare Website With Omitted CAH Data
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will release a second round of rankings including data for critical access hospitals (CAHs) to the July 2015 update to the Hospital Compare website. It will include performance data reported voluntarily by critical access hospitals. This decision comes in response to a letter from the American Hospital Association (AHA) that criticized the initial release of omitted CAH data by saying, “Many payers – including some Medicaid programs and private insurers – use Hospital Compare data reported by CAHs in their pay-for-performance programs.
