Chronic Conditions In Minnesota: New Estimates Of Prevalence, Cost & Geographic Variation For Insured Minnesotans, 2012
In this report released in January 2016, the Health Economics Program of the Minnesota Department of Health analyzed 2012 data from the Minnesota All Payer Claims Database (MN APCD). The report is focused on the costs of care for state residents with chronic health conditions. The analysis revealed that health care costs for Minnesota residents with one or more chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma or congestive heart failure, averaged $12,800 a year in 2012, about eight times the $1,600 average spending associated with an insured resident without a chronic condition . . .
