Arkansas Child Welfare Director Announces Resignation
The director of Arkansas' overburdened child welfare system says she's stepping down in March after seven years in the post. Cecile Blucker announced that she's resigning March 31 as the director of the Department of Human Services Division of Children and Family Services. Blucker has held the post since March 2009 and was previously the division's chief financial officer and assistant director. Arkansas' child welfare system is burdened by a high caseload and lack of foster homes. Gov. Asa Hutchinson tapped $1 million from the state's rainy day fund to hire more workers.
