California Planned Parenthood Education Fund, S.H., A.Z., & L.B., v. Promesa Behavioral Health

On February 23, 2016, California Planned Parenthood and three 18-year old women who were residents of a foster home operated by Promesa Behavioral Health sued the organization for denying the female youth in foster care access to medically necessary reproductive and sexual health care. The young women, and a former Promesa employee, allege that the organization confiscated contraceptives, prohibited youth from receiving reproductive health care, forced youth to allow group home staff into the exam rooms at their ob-gyn appointments, and required youth to sign an agreement that they would not engage in sexual activity . . .
