Raise The Age Louisiana Act Senate Bill 324
On June 14, 2016, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed legislation, Senate Bill (SB) 324, to raise the age of juvenile justice jurisdiction in the state, from age 16 to age 17. The provisions of SB 324, the Juvenile Jurisdiction Planning and Implementation Act, create the Louisiana Juvenile Jurisdiction Planning and Implementation Committee. By January 1, 2017, the Committee is responsible for developing a plan for implementing the legislation and submitting the plan to the legislature which will include recommendations for changes to the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice to expand jurisdiction to offenders through age 17 . . .
