DOJ Investigation Of Hinds County, Mississippi Adult Detention Center & The Jackson City Detention Center

On May 21, 2015, the U.S. Department of Justice released this report of its investigation of conditions at the Hinds County, Mississippi jail complex. The on-site inspections, document reviews and stakeholder interviews by department experts and staff revealed that both Hinds County Adult Detention Center and the Jackson City Detention Center violated the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act (CRIPA) by failing to protect prisoners from violence by other prisoners and from improper use of force by staff.
