New Mexico Requires Law Enforcement Officers To Carry Overdose Antidote Kits

New Mexico has become the first state to require all state and local law enforcement officers to carry overdose kits. The legislation also requires federally-certified addiction treatment centers to provide education about naloxone, two doses of the life-saving overdose-reversal drug, and a prescription for additional naloxone to those who seek treatment. Funding for the legislation's programs will be provided by both the state, and by funding grants.
