U.S. v. McKesson Civil Penalty Settlement Agreement
On January 17, 2017, the federal Department of Justice released this civil penalty agreement in the case of U.S. v. McKesson. The agreement stems from an Ohio Attorney General's case against the company, accusing them of making false and deceptive statements in their marketing campaigns about the benefits of their various opioid medications and the risk of addiction. In the agreement, McKesson Corporation (McKesson), a large pharmaceutical distributor, agreed to pay the federal government $150 million for alleged violations of the Controlled Substances Act.
