On June 15, 2017, the Bureau of Justice Statistics released this report on indicators of mental health problems reported by prisoners and jail inmates from 2011-2012. The report presents two prevalence estimates of mental health problems among state and federal prisoners and local jail inmates, as well as a detailed statistical analysis on the demographics behind those estimates.
